Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Praxis (the "Software") you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

2. What Praxis is

Praxis is a local guardrail that mediates actions AI tools take on your computer. It is a safety layer, not a guarantee. It reduces risk from AI agents but cannot prevent every possible harmful action, especially from software that does not route through it.

3. License

The free Lite edition is provided free of charge for personal and internal business use. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Software as your own product. The Software is provided under the license in the project repository.

4. No warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. You use Praxis at your own risk.

5. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, DATA LOSS, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

Praxis can move files to a recoverable trash and record actions, but you are responsible for maintaining your own backups. Do not rely on Praxis as your only safeguard against data loss.

6. Your responsibilities

7. Third-party software

Praxis works alongside third-party AI tools and open-source components, each governed by their own licenses and terms. We are not responsible for those products.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
